BREAKING: CAF President Tests Positive for COVID-19

The President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Ahmad Ahmad, has tested positive for COVID-19.

This was contained in a statement on the website of the continental football governing body on Friday.

The statement read, “The president after his arrival to Cairo on Oct. 28, presented mild flu symptoms and submitted to the COVID-19 protocol.

“Today, the test results are positive and the president immediately self-isolate for at least the next 14 days at his hotel.

“All those who have come into contact with Ahmad over the past seven days, especially during his trip to Morocco for the CAF Confederation Cup, have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures.”

Nigeria Womens Football League: 2020-2021 Season to Commence December 9

The Nigeria Women Football League [NWFL] board has confirmed the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) will commence its 2020-21 season on December 9, 2020.

The Aisha Falode’s led NWFL board named the kick-off date following a meeting with all 16 club representatives at its secretariat in Abuja.

Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Women Football League , Faith Ben-Anuge disclosed that it will revert to a straight league format for the first time since 2014 following the 2019/20 season scrapping due to Covid-19.

Following a draw ceremony, Rivers Angels have drawn against Adamawa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons battle FC Robo Queens, while DreamStars Ladies welcome Delta Queens.

In other fixtures, Sunshine Queens face Heartland Queens, Edo Queens tackle Royal Queens, Abia Angels host Osun Babes, Bayelsa Queens meet Pelican Stars and Ibom Angels visit Confluence Queens.

According to Ben-Anuge, Nasarawa Amazons and FC Robo will be the opening match of the season in Lafia on December 9 and there will be a two-week break after the Week 15 fixtures.

Speaking at the event, Falode read the riot act to the clubs, while outlining plans in the build-up to the league’s commencement.

NFF Inducts Newly Appointed Coaches of Various National Teams

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has inducted recently appointed coaches of the various National Teams.

The event, which held at the Sunday Dankaro House headquarters of the football-ruling body, saw the coaches taken through important sessions that will aid them during their time on the job.

In his remark, the NFF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, charged the newly appointed coaches to be of good behaviour and give their best whilst serving the nation. He also enjoined them to ensure they maintain a good working relationship with the secretariat.

First Vice President of the NFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi also advised the coaches to concentrate fully on the task of winning international matches and championships and avoid controversies that are of no good to the Nigeria football brand. He charged that discipline, diligence and professionalism should be their watchwords.
