#EndSARS: Anonymous Syndicate Hacks Government Website

Earlier today the #ENDSARS protest got the attention of the Popular hacking group, Anonymous Syndicate which claimed via its Twitter handle, that it had allegedly breached some Nigerian government websites.

Earlier today the #ENDSARS protest got the attention of the Popular hacking group, Anonymous Syndicate which claimed via its Twitter handle, that it had allegedly breached some Nigerian government websites.

The group claimed the act was in support of the ongoing #EndSARS protest across Nigeria.

“Nigeria: Anonymous hacks multiple government websites in solidarity with #EndSARS protestors and retribution for violence by police. #OpNigeria #EndSARS Protest.” Anonymous syndicate tweeted.

The Anonymous Syndicate is allegedly a network of thousands of activists of which a minority of them are hackers, devoted to the idea of personal freedom and opposed to the consolidation of corporate and government power.

They were allegedly linked to the Distributed Denial of Service attack on the Minneapolis Police department earlier this year.

NCC Contributes N2.27Tr to Nigeria’s GDP- Dambatta

Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has said that the contribution of the telecommunication sector to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has risen from 8.5 percent in 2015 to 14.3 percent as at September 2020, amounting to N2.272 trillion.

Executive Vice Chairman, NCC Umar Garba Dambatta who disclosed this when members of the House of Representatives Committee on Telecommunication visited the Commission on an oversight also disclosed that Investments in the sector has risen from 38 billion dollar in 2015 to over 70 billion dollars now.

He told the lawmakers that the commission paid over N344 billion into the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the federation within the period under review, an average of N70 billion annually.

He put the figure of active telecom subscribers in the country at about 205.25 million with a tele density of 107 percent as at the end of September 2020.

He explained that even though Nigeria’s population stands at about 20 million, it was possible to have such a figure of active subscribers because “while some people have one active line, others have two or three active lines”.

53 Arrested Over NYSC Camp Looting Says IGP Adamu

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has said that about 53 persons have been arrested by security operatives in connection with the looting of properties at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC orientation camp, Kubwa, Abuja.

Adamu stated these in an interview with journalists after an on-the-spot assessment of the Abuja camp in conjunction with the NYSC Director-General, Brig. General Ibrahim Shuaibu, on Friday.

According to him, some of the looters have voluntarily returned some of the items that were stolen.

He also assured that those who looted the camp, stealing kits and other items would be punished accordingly.

CBN Releases Guidelines for N75 Billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released guidelines for implementation of the proposed N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF).

CBN, in a statement by its Development Finance Department, stated that the fund was a built-in strategy to effectively respond to the challenge of youth employment in Nigeria.

The Fund, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, is to be managed by NISRAL Microfinance Bank.

“The plan targets young people between 18 and 35 years and details the needed actions required to access the funds.

“The fund aims to financially empower youths to generate at least 500,000 jobs between 2020 and 2023,’’the apex bank said.
