The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operation Unit Zone B, Kaduna has paraded smuggled items worth N360, 227,250.00. The Unit also presented a record of its stewardship in the last 40 days.

The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operation Unit Zone B, Kaduna has paraded smuggled items worth N360, 227,250.00.

In a Press briefing on Thursday, 8 October, 2020, Comptroller. Mustapha Sarkin-Kebbi said that Officers of the Unit have arrested and seized the following items; 155 parcels of Indian hemp, 3,342 bags of 50kg foreign Rice criminally re-bagged in Made in Nigeria local Bags, 34 motor vehicles and other contraband items in various locations within the Zone.

The Duty Paid Value (DPV) of items presented stood at N360,227,250.00.

The Comptroller assured that the Unit will not relent in its effort to rid the zone of all smuggling activities.

The Federal Operation Unit comprises 10 states within the North-West and North-Central geopolitical zones with Kaduna as its administrative Headquarters.

25 officers of the Customs Police Unit, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have graduated from the Nigerian Army school of military police, Basawa, Zaria after completing the Customs police special investigation course.

Compt. M.M Sarkin-kebbi representing the Comptroller General of Customs at the combine graduation ceremony of the Nigerian army school of military police on the 14th of October 2020 witnessed the ceremony.

A statement by the Pro, FOU Zone B, Kaduna, ASCI M.A. Magaji said officers of the service who also participated in the joint 2020 school session with army officers were commended by the special guest at the occasion Maj. Gen. Ki Mukthar, Commandant deport, Nigerian army for enduring and thriving in rigors of military training.

Within the 8 week course duration, Officers completed modules in law, investigation, criminal case- file compilation and other relevant subjects.

Third Quarter: Customs Showcases Items seized

The Nigeria Customs Service Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command has showcased seized items and detentions made during the Third Quarter of 2020.

This was done by the Command’s Area Comptroller, H.U Ngozi.

These includes: 265 kegs of 25 liters of petrol, 1 truck containing 6 bags of fertilizer, 26 kegs of 50kg foreign rice, 20 kegs of vegetable oil, second hand clothing, used motorcycles, 11 vehicles and others

She attributed the achievements to collaborations between the Command and other Nigeria Customs Units, Sister agencies as well as community leaders and the good people of Oyo and Osun States.

Customs Appoints 2 New Acting Deputy Comptrollers,Others

Following the required retirement of some members of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd), appointed two new acting Deputy Comptrollers General of Customs.

The National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Joseph Attah, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

In addition, five new acting Assistant Comptrollers General of Customs were appointed along with the redeployment of five senior officers.

The Comptroller General stated that these appointments and redeployments are strategic steps in consolidating and building gains of reforms in the Nigeria Customs Service.
