NCS Ogun 1 Area Command Seizes 58 Trailer Loads of Smuggled Parboiled Rice, Others in Six Months

NCS Ogun I Area Command has made seizures with a Duty Paid Value worth N834,765,273.00.

This was according to the Area Controller, Compt. Peter KOLO during a media briefing held at Idiroko, Ogun State.

He revealed that the Command has been able to record a seizure of 34,540 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50kg each which is an equivalent of 58 trailer loads.

Several other seizures recorded in their various quantities during the same period include, Vegetable Oil, 1,514 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, 2,224 Kegs of PMS among others.

The Command also generated a total revenue of N15,261,074.00 within the period under review which are mainly proceeds of auction sales of seized petroleum products (PMS) and scrap metals.

He added that “It should be noted that Federal Government of Nigeria’s directive on border closure is still subsisting, hence, there is no revenue generated from imports activities”.

He also reiterated that the intelligence network in the Command is still very active as intelligence is deployed in virtually all their operations which has yielded greater successes.

“Let me once again warn criminal elements in the state that in whichever way and methods you plan your smuggling activities, we shall definitely uncover it, make arrest and inflict gross financial injury on such perpetuators”.

“It suffice to say that the continuous attacks on Customs and other security operatives in the state by some criminal elements will not deter us from sustaining the onslaught on their smuggling activities. We are determined more than ever before to carry out this battle to its logical conclusion” he added.
