Nigeria Takes Delivery Of 100,000 More AstraZeneca Vaccines From India

The federal government on Tuesday said an additional 100,000 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has been received from India.
Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja.
The vaccines, donated by the government of India to Nigeria, will help boost the number of Nigerians to be vaccinated by about 50,000, Mustapha said.

Facebook to Turn Menlo Park Headquarters into Vaccination Site to Speed-Up Drive in US

Facebook incorporated has said that it is converting a part of its Menlo park headquarters, into a vaccination site, joining the government effort to speed up the vaccination drive in the united states.
For this initiative, the company is teaming up with Ravenswood family health centre, chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg wrote in a post.
“We’re also teaming up with the state of California and local non-profits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest hit regions,” Sandberg wrote.
Earlier this year, the social media company decided to launch a tool to give people in the United States information about where to get Covid-19 vaccines and added a Covid-19 information area to its photo-sharing site, Instagram.

Pfizer Seeks Covid-19 Vaccine Authorization for 12-15 Year Olds in US

Pfizer-Biontech has announced on its website that it had asked for authorization to use their Covid-19 vaccine on 12-15 year olds in the United States. their request to the food and drug administration in the us, comes after phase 3 clinical trials of the Pfizer vaccine in 12-15 year olds were 100 percent effective in warding off the disease, according to the company.
Phizer Biontech has said that they plan to make similar requests of other regulatory authorities worldwide in the coming days.
For now, the vaccine has emergency authorization for use in people 16 and older. the Biontech/Pfizer shot is based on The Novel MRNA technology and was the first Covid-19 vaccine to be approved in the west late last year.

India Suffers Vaccine Shortage as Covid-19 Cases Rise

Over 700 million people across India were facing coronavirus vaccine shortages on Thursday (April 8), as more than 126,000 new infections were recorded in the previous 24 hours.
In Maharashtra, the state health minister issued a warning on Wednesday, saying supplies will run out in three days unless replenished.
At a vaccination centre in the Mumbai neighbourhood of Dharavi, India’s largest slum, long queues formed as people waited to get a jab. Dr Afrin Sultana Khan, in charge of the facility, warned it would be able to vaccinate only another 440 people
The head of India’s Serum Institute, the world’s largest vaccine maker by volume, has called for financial help from the government.
Total coronavirus cases in India are nearing 13 million and there have been 170,000 deaths from the virus.
