War on Smuggling: JBPT Seize Goods Worth N61 Million in 3 Weeks

The fight against smuggling never seems to ease up but the Joint Border Patrol Team Sector 3, Kwara state, have stayed on their heels, recording various seizures amounting to N61 million in 3 weeks, including illegal immigrants.
Items seized within this period include 1,274 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 23 used vehicles, a locally made pistol with 8 cartridges, 242 Jerry cans of PMS, 7 motorcycles among others

In a statement, The Coordinator of JBPT, Comptroller Oluboyega Peters, stressed the need for these illicit traders to engage in legal business and desist from smuggling and warned enemies of extra measures being put in place to counter the influx of smuggling prohibited items into the country

FOU Zone “B” Seizes Smuggled Items Worth N51 Million

With an emphasis on uploading their mandate on suppression of smuggling, the Customs Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, Kaduna, Comptroller Hamisu Al-Bashir, met with the press to reveal successes recorded in the fight against smuggling.
He stated that the Unit recorded a total of 39 seizures within the last 2 weeks.
The Duty Paid Value of the seized items stood at over N51 million. The items include 801 bags of foreign parboiled rice in (50kg each) and 38 bags of rice (25kg each), 180 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 81 kegs of vegetable oil, 48 bales of secondhand clothing, 8 vehicles amongst others.
He further called on the public to aid in the fight against smuggling, as their campaign would help rid the country of these economic saboteurs.

NCS Seme records Grand Seizure, hands over illicit drugs to NDLEA.

In a Media Brief, held on Wednesday, 31st March, 2021 at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post, Seme Kraka Border, Badagry, Lagos, Compt. Bello Mohammed Jibo has revealed that the Command will hand over intercepted parcels of cannabis sativa worth over 2 million naira to the NDLEA Command Seme.
Jibo also said that the Command also made a seizure of 705 items with a duty paid value of four hundred and nine million, eight hundred and fifty one thousand, five hundred and thirty three naira, fourteen Kobo. ( #409,851,533.14).
He further said, the Command recorded a trade Volume of three hundred and forty eight million, eight hundred and twenty seven thousand, seven hundred and seventy five metric tons of exported goods, with the free on board FOB value of over 4 billion.
He added that, the command benefited from the welfare package of the Comptroller General of Customs with the construction of 32, 30 and 16 man ranks and files Barracks to cover the inadequacy of accommodation in the command.
The Command also, constructed a modern convenience at the international Park, J4 in Seme Badagry West to assist travellers both locally and internationally as a form of Cooperate Social Responsibility.
The Command has also partnered with an NGO named community Football Foundation for the establishment of a football Club named Badagry, United.
The overall revenue remitted into the Federation account is eighty million, seven hundred and seventy seven thousand, eight hundred and seven naira, twenty two kobo (N80, 774,807.22) only during the period under review.
The CAC thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and the Management team for the continuous support and guidance.

Customs Area Controller, Bauchi/Gombe Command Passes Away

The Customs Area Controller of Bauchi/Gombe Command, passed away at 12:50, on Saturday, 27th of March, 2021. He died after brief illness at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi.
Comptroller Francis Udokwu was born on 27th, April, 1962, hailing from Anambra state.
A Bachelors Degree Holder in English language from University of Benin, Comptroller Francis Udokwu took over the mantle of leadership of the Command on January, 1st, 2019.

He was previously Comptroller in charge Discipline at Headquarters and also a Deputy Comptroller in charge of Administration, Customs Intelligence Unit.
He is survived by his wife, eight children and two grandchildren.
