Super Eagles Pick 3 Maximum Points from Last Group Game

The super eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday evening defeated the crocodiles of Lesotho 3-Nil at the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos.

The Gernot Rohr-tutored side had already qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations even before kicking a ball against Benin republic courtesy of a goalless draw between the crocodiles and Sierra Leone in the penultimate match day.

Qualification for AFCON however did not dissuade the 3-time African champions from firing at all cylinders as they scored two second half goals after they had scored one before half time.

Victor Osimhen found the back of the net in the 23rd minute before Oghenekaro Etebo doubled the Eagles lead in the 50th minute. Nigeria’s hero against Benin Republic, Paul Onuachu then had the last say by scoring in the 83rd minute.

The victory takes super eagles’ point tally in group l to 14 after playing 6 games to finish as the leaders of the group.

Liverpool have announced pre-tax losses of £46 million as the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic becomes clear at Anfield.

The Reds’ latest accounts, released on Tuesday, show significant reductions in key revenue streams, with match day and media income particularly affected. The accounts cover the year up to May 31st, 2020, of which only the final three months were affected by Covid-19.

Club officials anticipate that the true cost of the pandemic will surpass £100m, with supporters still to return to stadiums and Jurgen Klopp’s side struggling to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

The headline figure is that Liverpool have recorded a pre-tax loss of £46m for the accounting period.

That is in sharp contrast to last year, when they announced a pre-tax profit of £42m – the fifth time in six years that the club had recorded profits.

Messi Hits Brace as Barcelona Win First Trophy In Two Years

Barcelona comfortably defeated Athletic Bilbao 4-0 to win the Spanish Copa Del Rey title at the Estadio De La Cortuja in Seville on Saturday night.

Bilbao lost the league cup final, no thanks to a flurry of second-half goals from Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie De Jong and a masterclass from Lionel Messi who scored twice.

The Spanish cup win earns Barcelona their first trophy since the 2018/19 season.

It is also the first trophy of Ronald Koeman’s reign as Barca manager.

The Catalans dominated the first half with 80 percent possession and went close early on Through De Jong who hit the bar, while Griezmann was also denied by Uniai Simeon, Athletic Goalkeeper, in a goalless first half.

Simeon continued to frustrate Barcelona but they opened the floodgates on the hour mark when Griezmann converted de Jong’s cross.

De Jong, Dutch midfielder, doubled Barca’s lead three minutes later with a header from Jordi Alba’s cross before Messi delivered a trademark goal into the bottom corner on 68 minutes.

The 33-year-old argentine Maestro earned his brace against their docile opponents five minutes later, converting another alba cross for his 31st goal in a cup final.

The latest Copa Del Rey triumph is a record-extending 31st for Barcelona.

PREMIER LEAGUE: Harry Kane Unhappy with Spurs Inconsistency

Harry Kane has bemoaned Tottenham’s inability to hold on to results this season after they were pegged back for a point by Newcastle at St James’ Park in the Premier League.
The Spurs striker looked to have done enough in the first half with a four-minute brace to overturn Joelinton’s opener, but Jose Mourinho’s visitors were ultimately made to pay as Arsenal loanee Joe Willock struck late to salvage a draw for the Magpies.

It means Tottenham have now dropped 11 points from goals conceded in the last 10 minutes of matches this term, and their star forward admitted that there has to be a marked improvement from the European hopefuls.
Spurs must get up and dust themselves off ahead of what will be a big April for the club as they build towards a showpiece game later this month.
