Breaking: Nigeria’s Daily Oil Production Sinks to 1.17 Million Barrels

According to a report by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Crude oil production in Nigeria tumbled by 155,000 barrels to a record low in December amid the production cuts by OPEC and its allies.
The report showed that the country’s oil production fell to 1.17 million barrels per day in December 2020, from 1.33 million bpd in November, based on direct communication.
“Crude oil output increased mainly in Libya, Iraq and the UAE, while production decreased primarily in Nigeria, Congo and Angola. Libya’s crude oil output in December rose to 1.22 million bpd, according to secondary sources,” the group said.
“In the meantime, a meaningful rise in oil prices following the recent DoC (Declaration of Cooperation) decisions along with a positive trajectory from COVID-19 vaccines would brighten the 2021 outlook and lay the groundwork for a hopeful medium-term real GDP expansion,” it added

What to Know About the New WhatsApp Privacy Policy

Whatsapp’s new terms and conditions have put users in a frenzy
The core issue relates to WhatsApp’s data-sharing procedures with Facebook which is to go into effect on February 8th that will mandate the sharing of sensitive profile information with WhatsApp’s parent company.
THEIR DEFENCE…
WhatsApp must receive or collect some information to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market their services, including when you install, access, or use their service.
They insist that they require certain information to deliver their services and without this, will not be able to provide service to users.
WHY IS THIS CAUSING THE FLIGHT OF USERS?
Many users are wary of the move as Facebook has a poor track record in handling user data.
Some privacy activists called on WhatsApp users on Twitter to switch to apps like Signal and Telegram, questioning the “accept our data grab or get out” move.

WHICH ARE THE OTHER RIVAL APPS BENEFITING?
SIGNAL: More than 100,000 users installed Signal across the app stores of Apple and Google in the last two days
TELEGRAM: Telegram gained 2.2 million downloads.
Both Telegram and Signal are encrypted messaging apps. They do not allow outsiders or the platform itself to see the content of the messages.
WHAT IS WHATSAPP DOING ABOUT IT?
The company tried to reassure users that WhatsApp cannot see their private messages or hear their calls, and neither can Facebook.
“We don’t keep logs of whom everyone is messaging or calling. We can’t see your shared location and neither can Facebook,” it added.
Location data along with message contents is encrypted end-to-end, according to WhatsApp.
WHAT IS WHATSAPP DOING ABOUT IT CONT’D
But other metadata such as call records, location, financial information, etc may be shared if you are using WhatsApp.
“We’re giving businesses the option to use secure hosting services from Facebook to manage WhatsApp chats with their customers, answer questions, and send helpful information like purchase receipts,” WhatsApp said.
