Chimamanda Adichie Wins Women’s Prize for Fiction “Winner of Winners”.

Chimamanda Adichie’s novel half of a yellow sun has been voted the best book to have won the women’s prize for fiction in its 25-year history.
The Nigerian-born author, who won the prize in 2007, was chosen in a public vote from a list of all 25 winners.

Other past winners include Zadie Smith, the late Andrea Levy, Lionel Shriver, Rose Tremain and Maggie O’farrell.
The one-off award marks the anniversary of the prize, formerly known as the orange prize and the bailey’s prize.
Half of a yellow sun is set in Nigeria during the Biafran war, exploring the end of colonialism, ethnic allegiances, class, race and female empowerment. Published in 2006, it has received global acclaim.
It was made into a film starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie newton in 2013.
More than 8,500 people voted, and were invited to share their thoughts with the prize’s digital book club, accessing newly created online reading guides and author interviews.

It was indeed a day of happiness and fulfillment for popular comedian Oluwatoyin Bayegun AKA Arole who is exchanged marital vows with his lover, Yemi. the comedian and actor had spent the past few weeks teasing his fans and followers with beautiful pre-wedding photos but the day has finally arrived on Friday, April 9.
The happy couple posted several videos of themselves clad in their Traditional Yoruba wedding attire. one video showed the bride and groom posing for the camera as they danced gently to Yoruba music.
Another video showed the bride and her friends dancing to Afro POP music while the photographer snapped away motion pictures. hearty congratulations to the couple.

Davido Hares Stage With Yinka Ayefele

Singer Davido has returned to Nigeria after his vacation in the US and the music star has been having a time of his life. just recently, the JOWO crooner was spotted at a large party held in Ogun state. a video that was spotted online captured the moment gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele, summoned the hip-hop star to join him on stage.
Ayefele hailed the singer and proceeded to give a freestyle cover performance of some of his popular songs. Davido then gifted the musician a massive stash of N1000 notes. in another portion of the video, Davido was seen performing some of his hit songs with Ayefele’s band playing accompaniment in the background. the crowd of course went wild to this unexpected performance by Davido. after his spontaneous performance he returned to the dance floor and continues as a regular party goer.

Rapper DMX Dies at 50 After a Week on Life Support

Multiplatinum American rapper and actor, Earl Simmons, known by his stage name DMX, has died at the age of 50, a week after being hospitalized following a heart attack, according to a family statement released Friday.
“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. he loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever,” the Simmons family said in a statement.
This comes barely 24hours after his manager, Steve Rifkind took to Instagram to debunk death rumours of the rapper, which started trending on social media on Thursday night.
Following a heart attack, DMX was hospitalized in the ICU of New York’s white plains hospital. he spent his final days on life support, as the family visited and as the prayer vigil grew outside the hospital.

The rapper was on life support after suffering a heart attack at his home. The 50-year-old was reportedly without oxygen for almost 30 minutes, causing damage to his lungs and brain. It was previously reported that the heart attack was brought on by a drug overdose, but that has yet to be confirmed.
