Ogun Police Command: Wanted Cult Leader Arrested at Scene of Robbery

Policemen attached to Ogijo division, Ogun State Police Command have arrested a notorious Eiye confraternity leader who has been on the wanted list of the command.

The suspect, 26yrs old Akibu Tikare was arrested on Saturday 24th October following a distress call received at Ogijo division at about 9:30 pm that a group of armed robbers were operating between Gbaga and Kamalu area of Ogijo robbing people of their belongings at gun point.

This was disclosed in a press release by the PPRO, Ogun State police command DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

According to the press release, on receiving the information, the DPO Ogijo division, CSP Muhammed Baba quickly led his men to the scene with some members of vigilante group where the suspect was arrested with a locally made double barre short gun in his possession.

Although other members of his group who he claimed came from Ikorod and Owutu area of Lagos State had escaped.

Some of the victims have identified him as one of those that robbed them of their properties including but not limited to phones and cash

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward A. Ajogun has directed the immediate transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for discreet investigation. He also directed that the escaped members of the gang must be apprehended in order to put a permanent end to the gang operation in the State.

Reps to Summon President Buhari Over Insecurity in Nigeria

The house of representatives has passed a resolution to invite president muhammadu buhari, over the state of security in the country.

The decision to summon president buhari was taken at tuesday’s plenary.

The decision was reached after the house adopted a motion, moved by ahmed jaha, to invite the president to brief the house, on the security situation in the country. this following the recent massacre of 43 rice farmers, in borno state by boko haram insurgents.

His motion was seconded and unanimously adopted by the house.

 

However, no date has been announced for the invitation.

Buhari Urges Nigerian Energy Consumers to Consider Gas as Alternative to Petroleum Products

The president of nigeria, muhammadu buhari has urged nigerian energy consumers to shift their attention from petroleum products to gas, which he described as cheaper, cleaner and more accessible.

 

President buhari made the call, during a virtually held event at the state house, tuesday, to unveil a national gas expansion programme and national auto-gas roll-out initiative.

He noted that the recent deregulation of the downstream sector had exposed many to price instabilities in the global market.

 

According to him, with the heavy gas reserves of about 203 trillion cubic feet and additional upside of 600 tcf, nigerians should embrace the use of gas as an alternative, to petrol.

 

The president also applauded nigerians and the organized labour for restraint, understanding and patience as the country tackles numerous economic challenges.

 

He further assured nigerians that the federal government is working hard to better the situation.

The minister of interior ogbeni rauf aregbesola has inaugurated a nine man special taskforce to monitor and enforce the nigeria expatriate quota terms and condition.

 

Ogbeni aregbesola says between august 2019 till 1ts of december 2020, one thousand, one hundred and eighty-two (1,182) companies received approval with twelve thousand, three hundred and seventy-four (12,374) expatriate quota position. however, the recurring abuses and gross violation of the policy necessitated the move for the enforcement.
