COVID-19 Situation in Kano: Gov Ganduje Allows Friday Prayers

THERE IS LOCKDOWN EASE IN KANO: FRIDAY PRAYERS ALLOWED
On recent developments towards COVID-19 lockdown ease, the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday, 18th 2020, granted permission for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr prayers to hold across kano.
This was made known to the public by the special adviser on media to the state governor, Salihu Tanko.
Quoting From Daily Trust, He said, the governor arrived at the decision based on the recommendations of 30 islamic scholars in the state.
But with certain precautions comes the ease of lockdown in the state.

Worshippers are instructed to put on face masks, wash hands, and make use of Sanitizers when they visit mosque for prayer.
He disclosed that the recommendation by the Islamic scholars was given at a meeting with government officials in the state.
“His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR has accepted and approved recommendations by a selection of 30 Islamic scholars in Kano for the Government to allow Friday Prayers as well as Eid Prayers to hold,” the governor’s spokesperson said.
Yakasai stated that Imams have been mandated to enforce physical distancing rules in mosques. He said worshippers will be instructed to wear face masks, as well as use sanitizers and adhere to the washing of hands.
He, however, noted that traditional eid celebrations in the state will not be allowed.
Furthermore, it was gathered that the President of NIGERIA addressed Nigerians on the further ease of lockdown in FCT, Lagos, and Ogun States.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has extended the gradual easing of the lockdown by two weeks across the nation.
This was disclosed by the PTF chairman and secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha. He announced this on Monday, May 18, during the daily briefing of the task force in Abuja.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari took the decision based on the recommendations of the PTF.
He added that the guidelines issued for relaxing the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun, and the federal capital territory (FCT) will be maintained for the next two weeks.

Liberia On Heightened Alert After Guinea Ebola Deaths

Liberian President George Weah on Sunday put the country’s health authorities on heightened alert after four people died of Ebola in neighbouring Guinea, the first resurgence of the disease in five years.
Weah mandated the Liberian health authorities and related stakeholders in the sector to heighten the country’s surveillance and preventative activities in the wake of reports of the emergence of the deadly Ebola virus disease in neighbouring Guinea, his office said in a statement.

Guinea’s Health Minister, Remy Lamah told the Press on Saturday that four people had died of Ebola, the first deaths since a 2013-2016 epidemic which began in Guinea killed 11,300 people across the region.
According to Weah’s statement on Sunday, the new deaths occurred in Guinean town of Gouecke close to Liberia’s northeastern border.
