Zinedine Zidane Exit: Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos predicted Zinedine Zidane’s exit THREE MONTHS before it happened

Sergio Ramos predicted Zinedine Zidane would quit even if he won the Champions League

Zinedine Zidane exit: The news that Zinedine Zidane was going to step down as Real Madrid manager just five days after winning the Champions League brought a shock to many as it filtered through around the world yesterday.

But not to Sergio Ramos and not because he was informed about Zidane‘s departure by the man himself a day earlier. The Madrid captain had a feeling this could be in the pipeline a long time before.

Three months ago after Madrid’s Champions League win over Paris-Saint Germain, Ramos dropped a hint the Frenchman could be on his way out at the end of the season.

‘Perhaps he will win the Champions League again and then want a break, that is a possibility,’ Ramos said after Madrid’s 3-1 win in the first leg of their last-16 tie. ‘Everyone takes for granted that if he wins it then he’ll stay but he might want to have a rest for a little bit, you never know.’ And that, as it were, was the official line Zidane used as his reasoning for quitting. He was tired and needed a rest.

Suggestions were made that it was nothing to do with being exhausted and more to do with the fact his blueprint for Real was wildly at odds with that of the hierarchy, particularly in terms of transfers this summer.

But those doubts were quickly dispelled when Zidane reiterated he wants a break from football and will not be looking for another job.

The 45-year-old leaves the most trophy-laden period in the club’s modern history in his wake, having won nine during his two-and-a-half years in charge.

Ramos led the tributes to the departing boss yesterday with a post on Twitter.

He wrote: ‘As a player and coach you decided to say goodbye at the top. Thank you for two-and-a-half incredible years. Your legacy will never be erased, one of the most successful chapters in the history of our beloved @realmadrid.’

2021 AFCON: Salisu Yusuf Says Super Eagles Technical Crew Working to Ensure Nigeria Defeat Tunisia

Author: Howdy Busayo, Abuja

Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf has disclosed that Nigeria’s technical crew is working assiduously to identify the strength and weaknesses of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia ahead of their clash with the 3-time African Champions in the round of 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria garnered 9 maximum points from their 3 matches in Group D to emerge as group winners while Tunisia secured their qualification ticket after finishing as one of the best 3rd placed teams at the group stage.

“Like every other game, Tunisia have their pluses and minuses. We are going to study them critically and identify their strength and weaknesses so that we can exploit their weaknesses while containing their strength,” Yusuf said.

The Kano Pillars coach also described the support the team as received in Cameroon as heartwarming while stressing the fact that the Nigerian community has made the venue “home away from home.”

“The support here is enormous, they have shown love to our country and everybody wants us to win. They have made us feel like we are playing in Nigeria from the first day we arrived and we hope we keep winning so that they continue to be happy with us,” he added.

Yusuf lauded the Eagles players for their resounding performance at the group stage, saying they deserve kudos and must be celebrated. He however charged the boys to continue towing that line at the crucial knockout round of the competition.

“The last three games were good, you can see that there is difference from some matches that the team played before this time. You can see that there is intensity in the game. There is so much commitment on the part of the players and I think we should give them kudos for fighting so well so far,” the 2008 Nigeria Professional Football League-title winning coach added.

The Super Eagles take on the Carthage Eagles on Sunday at 8pm Nigerian time as they hope to win their 4th AFCON title.

Gabon coach Patrice Neveu has stated he is still not happy about what happened with Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
After testing positive for the coronavirus and being ruled out of Gabon’s Group C opener against Comoros, Aubameyang failed to fully recover to take part in their second game against Ghana.
