Operation Last Hold – Abba Dikko charges troops to brace up for task ahead

The commander of ‘ Operation Last Hold ’, Abba Dikko has charged troops deployed for the operation to take their pre-deployment training serious and brace up for the task ahead of them.
It was gathered that Dikko also charged them to be disciplined and to remain professional at all times, saying the nation relies on them to address the various security challenges in order to ensure peace. The director of army public relations, Texas Chukwu, on Friday, June 1, in a statement said the commander gave charge while addressing the troops at their concentration area at Azare in Bauchi state.

Operation Last Hold – Commander Abba Dikko Urges Troops
The army launched the four-month long operation in Borno North on May 1, to clear remnants of terrorists in nine local government areas in that zone. It was also designed to destroy the terrorists’ strong points in the Lake Chad Basin general area.
General Abba noted that the nation relies on the sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces in various theatres of operations to suppress insecurity and bring about peace in the country.
He charged the troops to emulate the discipline and uprightness of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai and brace up for the challenges ahead of them.
The Commander affirmed that discipline was a great asset which determines success in battle, adding that operation LAST HOLD which entails the deployment of additional manoeuvre Brigades, other critical assets and fire power will ensure the destruction of Boko Haram terrorist camps as well as strong points in the Lake Chad Basin general area.

The operation will facilitate return of Internally Displaced Persons – IDPs back to their communities, restore socio-economic activities and prepare ground for the conduct of 2018 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) in Northern Borno. Dikko charged the troops to brace up for the challenges ahead of them. Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Nigerian Army set up a media operation centre for the ongoing Operation Last Hold in the northeast region. The center is established to coordinate all matters relating to media activities as well as dissemination of useful and timely information to the general public.
The operation is expected to last 4 months commencing from Tesday, May 1 and it entails deployment of additional 4 maneouvre brigades.

Osinbajo Visits Kaduna, Commiserates with Victims of Train Attack

Vice president Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday visited Kaduna to sympathize with victims of the attack on Kaduna-Abuja train that occurred on Monday.
Osinbajo when answering questions from newsmen condemned the attack and described the act as evil, adding that such behaviour was sheer manifestation of cowardice. extended his condolence to the families of passengers that lost their lives
The Vice President said such happenings reinforced the need to provide security and surveillance on rail tracks, adding that government had been doing its best.
He promised that rail service would be restored soonest, just as he assured that adequate safety measures will be put in place to avert recurrence of such incident.
Osinbajo commended Kaduna State government for footing the medical bills of those injured, promising that Federal Government would render all necessary support.

EFCC Arrests Another FBI-Wanted Nigerian

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Emmanuel Chidiebere, a suspect wanted in the United States of America by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering.
EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed this in a statement, on Tuesday in Abuja, that suspect was arrested in his hideout in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State after receiving intelligence reports gathered by a team of operatives, while other three of his accomplices are still at large.
Chidiebere is alleged to have defrauded some victims in America, Cote D’Ivoire and Poland of some undisclosed amount of money and went underground.

Kaduna State Declares 24-hour Curfew in Two LGAs Over Attacks

The Kaduna State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas of the State with immediate effect.
The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure on Monday.
According to Aruwan, the curfew was to assist the security agencies stabilize the situation, and restore law and order.
The kaduna state government while appealing to residents to cooperate with the security agencies, condemned the violence and all acts of lawlessness that occurred in the area.
