The Customs Area Controller of the Federal Capital Territory Command, Comptroller Chinwe Aliboh, on Saturday, 20 December 2025, hosted an award and dinner night to recognise officers and stakeholders for their commitment and support to the Command’s operations.

The event, held at the FCT Command, celebrated the valour, resilience and dedication of officers, as well as the contributions of stakeholders operating under the Command.
The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi was represented at the ceremony by the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) in charge of Zone ‘B’, ACG Nsikan Umoh, who served as Special Guest of Honour.

Speaking at the event, Comptroller Aliboh said the initiative was driven by the need to appreciate officers who worked tirelessly in support of the Command throughout the year.
“Officers play a critical role in the success of the Service, and it is important to recognise their efforts, not just the contributions of stakeholders,” Comptroller Aliboh said.
She explained that the idea was informed by lessons from the CGC’s Conference, where officers were similarly recognised.
“I felt the recognition should trickle down to officers at the Command level, so they can feel valued and motivated,” she added.
Comptroller Aliboh stated that the Command has implemented structured operational measures to enhance performance.
“Every unit now operates with clear standard operating procedures, regular training sessions and weekly reporting. This helps us assess performance, identify gaps and work collectively towards our goals,” she said.
Also speaking, ACG Nsikan Umoh, said the awards night aligns with the leadership philosophy of the CGC, which promotes recognition of hard work across Commands.
“The CGC has directed Commands and Zones to recognise officers who contribute to organisational success to boost morale and professionalism,” ACG Umoh said.
She commended the FCT Command for being the first to implement the directive, noting that such initiatives motivate officers and strengthen discipline within the Service.
“Officers who were not recognised today will be encouraged to put in more effort so they can be recognised in future,” she said.
The Officers stated that the event also provided a relaxed platform for interaction between Customs officers and stakeholders, strengthening cooperation and collaboration.
