CGC Adeniyi Receives Lifetime Achievement Honour at Nigeria Most Influential Awards 2026

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has received the Lifetime Achievement in Customs Administration Award at the 10th anniversary edition of the Nigeria Most Influential Awards in Abuja.
The award, presented on Saturday, 22 August 2026, recognised CGC Adeniyi’s transformative leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), particularly his contributions to trade facilitation, revenue generation, technology-driven reforms and institutional repositioning.
The ceremony, held under the theme, “Celebrating 10 Years of Influence and Impact,” brought together distinguished Nigerians to celebrate individuals whose contributions have made significant impact in their respective fields.
Speaking after receiving the award, CGC Adeniyi expressed delight at the recognition, noting that it demonstrated that the efforts of the Service under his leadership were being noticed.
“When this kind of recognition comes, naturally, you must be delighted. You must be happy,” he said, adding that the award is also a reminder that there is more work to be done. “This kind of award is a statement of saying that we’ve done well, but we know that this type of award is a statement of saying we can still do more,” the CGC added.
The CGC further stated that the recognition reflects the impact of reforms implemented across the NCS, including efforts to modernise Customs administration, improve trade processes, strengthen revenue collection and extend the Service’s social impact through initiatives such as Customs Cares.
The organiser of the awards, Ambassador Vivian Lau, said the initiative was established to recognise individuals whose positive contributions have influenced society and shaped their communities.
The anniversary celebration also featured music, dance and comedy performances, while the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to the Customs helmsman stood out as one of the major highlights of the evening.
