The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Murtala Muhammed Airport Command (MMAC), has launched a weekly fitness programme aimed at promoting the physical and mental well-being of officers, stakeholders, and personnel from sister agencies.

Speaking at the Bashir Adewale Adeniyi Sports Arena in Ikeja on Thursday, 20 March 2025, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Michael Awe, emphasised that the facility is open to all and encouraged participants to take advantage of it. “If you know the value of the facility we have provided, you won’t hesitate to spend at least 30 minutes here to help you stay perfectly fit.”
Comptroller Awe highlighted the role of exercise in maintaining both physical fitness and mental agility, noting that the initiative would be sustained.
He also underscored the importance of collaboration, describing Customs, sister agencies, and stakeholders as a unified team working together for a common goal.
Participants welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm. Assistant Superintendent Quarantine (ASQ) Oburo Buikem expressed his appreciation, saying, “The benefit for me is mental alertness. As a quarantine officer, we need a good mindset, and to have that, there is a need to exercise.”
The weekly exercise is expected to take place every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
