CGC Adeniyi Hosts Beninese Volleyball Federation President

… Assures Support for Continental Tournament

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, on Friday, 7 March 2025, reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to fostering sports development as he hosted a delegation from the Nigerian Volleyball Federation at his office in Customs House, Maitama, Abuja.

Welcoming the delegation, led by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, the CGC Adeniyi expressed delight at the increasing prominence of the upcoming volleyball championship, which has attracted significant interest from clubs across the continent.
He described the event as an indication of Nigeria’s growing influence in the sporting world and an opportunity to strengthen regional collaboration.
“I want to sincerely welcome you to Nigeria. Whenever I meet colleagues from Customs and other institutions across the sub-region, I feel a strong sense of brotherhood. This championship, being oversubscribed well ahead of time, reflects our collective quest to showcase Nigeria’s capacity to host an international tournament of this magnitude.” CGC Adeniyi said.

The CGC also emphasised that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is a key participant and a strategic supporter of the tournament.
He assured that all necessary arrangements, including facilities, accommodation, hospitality, and logistics, would be meticulously handled to ensure a world-class experience for all participants.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the NVF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, expressed appreciation to the CGC for his unwavering support, highlighting how various volleyball federations across the continent have shown keen interest in joining the tournament.
Also present was the Benin Republic Volleyball Federation President, Ali Yaro, who praised the organisers and noted that the championship would further solidify the bonds among participating nations.
“With teams from at least eight countries confirmed and a maximum of 24 to 27 teams expected, organisers are confident that the event will set a new standard for volleyball tournaments in Africa,” Yaro said.
He also commended the CGC for stating the level of the Service’s preparedness to inspect some of the designated venues, including the stadium, and holding discussions with key stakeholders, including the military, to ensure seamless execution.
