CGC Adeniyi Receives Public Sector Reform Award from Aljazirah Media
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has been honoured with a Public Sector Reform Award by Aljazirah Media in recognition of his leadership and contributions to reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). The delegation was led by the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, Etuke NCS Headquarters on 6 April 2026. Presenting the award, Bassey said the recognition followed extensive assessments of Adeniyi’s performance in public service. He noted that the leadership of the Customs boss has brought about significant reforms within the Service, particularly in revenue generation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation.
According to him, the organisation conducted both local and international reviews before deciding to honour the Customs chief.
“We investigated extensively, both locally and internationally, and found no trace of corrupt practises, only a record of discipline, reform and measurable impact,” Bassey said.
He added that the award was intended to recognise a public servant whose integrity and reform-driven leadership have earned admiration within and outside Nigeria.
Receiving the honour, Adeniyi expressed appreciation to Aljazirah Media for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue strengthening transparency, professionalism and accountability within the Service.
He noted that the award reflects the collective efforts of officers and men of the NCS, who remain committed to delivering on the organisation’s mandate.
“This recognition inspires us to continue promoting transparency and strengthening public trust in our operations,” Adeniyi concluded.
