The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Patience Ita of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has stepped up stakeholder engagement to strengthen border security, curb smuggling and promote legitimate trade through closer collaboration with traditional institutions across Ondo State.
DC Ita on Thursday, 18 June 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, to deepen cooperation with traditional leaders in promoting border security, community peace and economic stability within the Command’s area of responsibility.
“Traditional institutions remain key partners in maintaining security at the grassroots. We will continue to work closely with community leaders to raise awareness about the dangers of smuggling and promote legitimate trade for the benefit of our economy,” DC Ita said.
Responding, the Olowo of Owo praised the NCS for its contributions to national security and revenue generation and assured the Command of the kingdom’s support.
“The Nigeria Customs Service has continued to make significant contributions to national security and revenue generation. The Owo Kingdom will continue to support the Service in promoting peace, security, and economic development,” the monarch said.
