The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command, on Thursday, 16 April 2026, organised a routine physical exercise in collaboration with sister agencies and stakeholders to promote officers’ well-being.

Addressing participants, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, said the initiative was designed to enhance physical fitness, boost morale and improve overall productivity within the Service.
She explained that the programme aligns with the work-life balance initiative introduced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, adding that Commands are encouraged to adopt similar activities.

“This initiative is for our benefit and our health. From what we have seen today, it is clear that officers are happy, energised and motivated. We have started, and we will continue in the spirit of promoting fitness and wellbeing,” she said.
Abubakar commended the turnout and support from sister agencies and stakeholders, as well as the Lagos Free Zone for providing the venue and supporting the planning of the exercise.

Officers who participated in the exercise expressed satisfaction with its impact on their morale and readiness for duty.
Stakeholders and representatives of sister agencies also commended the Area Controller for initiating the joint session, describing it as a positive step towards promoting collective well-being.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, praised the initiative and encouraged officers to prioritise their health.
“This is a commendable initiative. It promotes wellbeing and reminds us all of the importance of staying healthy and active,” she said, while acknowledging the role of Customs in facilitating trade.
She further stressed the need for sustained physical activity, noting that maintaining good health is essential for a productive workforce.
