Tambola Night at Customs College Boosts Inter-Agency Collaboration in Abuja

By Abdulhadi Ibrahim

The Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, on Saturday hosted a Tambola Night to foster unity and strengthen collaboration among officers of Nigeria’s security and paramilitary agencies.

The event, held within the College premises on 18 April 2026, brought together officers, trainees, and dignitaries from various agencies in a setting that combined professional interaction with social engagement.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Comptroller Haniel Hadison, said the initiative was designed to enhance institutional cohesion and leadership development.

He noted that beyond recreation, such informal platforms play a strategic role in promoting discipline, respect for hierarchy, and professionalism within the Service.

Hadison urged participants to sustain the spirit of cooperation built during the event and replicate it in their respective Commands and Units.

He also commended the organising committee for a well-coordinated programme and encouraged attendees to take advantage of the platform to build lasting professional relationships.

The event highlighted the role of the College Commandant, Assistant Comptroller-General Dow Gaura, whose leadership and support were credited for the successful hosting of the programme. Under his administration, the College has introduced initiatives to strengthen both professional capacity and interpersonal relations among personnel.

Participants described the Tambola Night as timely, noting that it provided a relaxed environment for interaction, often limited in formal operational settings.

The highlight of the evening was the prize presentation segment, where winners of different rounds of the Tambola game were rewarded, culminating in the presentation of the star prize.

The initiative reflects a growing trend within Nigeria’s security institutions to incorporate social engagement into professional development to improve inter-agency collaboration.
