The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have renewed their commitment to joint enforcement and intelligence-sharing to combat drug trafficking along Nigeria’s maritime corridor.

The renewed collaboration followed a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Commander of the NDLEA Tincan Strategic Command, Solomon Omotosho, to the KLT Command in Lagos.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, 26 March 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Victor Ogagbor, the visit underscored a shared resolve to strengthen inter-agency cooperation against narcotics trafficking.

Upon receiving the delegation, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Bolaji Adigun, described the engagement as strategic and timely, noting that “port environments remain critical frontlines in the fight against illicit drug movements.”

He emphasised that enhanced intelligence sharing, coordinated cargo profiling and joint examination procedures are vital tools in dismantling drug trafficking networks and improving operational outcomes.

In his remarks, Commander Omotosho said the visit was aimed at building a strong working relationship with the KLT Command and reinforcing operational synergy between both agencies.

He reaffirmed the NDLEA’s readiness to work closely with the NCS to strengthen national security and safeguard the country’s maritime domain.

Both agencies reiterated their resolve to maintain a united front, deepen operational coordination and intensify efforts to secure Nigeria’s ports from illicit activities.
