Customs Strengthens Collaboration with Immigration, Police in Borno

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Borno/Yobe Area Command, has deepened its inter-agency cooperation with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Police Force through separate courtesy visits aimed at enhancing security and addressing cross-border crimes in Borno State.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Abdullahi Ubali, on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, the visits were led by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Abdullahi, as part of efforts to strengthen operational synergy among security agencies in the state.

According to the statement, the Customs delegation first paid a courtesy visit to the Borno State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, where Comptroller Abdullahi met with the State Controller of Immigration, Muktar Musa. Discussions during the visit focused on improving border management, enhancing intelligence sharing, and strengthening joint operations to curb smuggling, illegal migration, and other trans-border crimes.

Comptroller Abdullahi commended the Immigration Service for its sustained cooperation with Customs and emphasised the importance of continuous collaboration in securing Nigeria’s borders while facilitating legitimate trade activities in the state.

In his response, the State Controller of Immigration welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service to address security challenges along the borders and promote national interest.

In a separate engagement, the Customs Area Controller led his team on a courtesy visit to the Borno State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, where he was received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid. The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on strengthening operational coordination, intelligence exchange, and joint responses to smuggling and other criminal activities within the state.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Abdullahi expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation of the Police Command, reiterating the readiness of the Nigeria Customs Service to partner with the Police in maintaining peace, public safety, and security in Borno State.

Responding, CP Abdulmajid welcomed the Customs delegation and assured them of the Police Command’s continued support and collaboration in the collective effort to safeguard lives, property, and national security.

The statement noted that the engagements reflect the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service, Borno/Yobe Area Command, to sustained inter-agency cooperation as a strategic approach to strengthening security, promoting lawful trade, and supporting economic development in Borno State and the country as a whole.
