The Comptroller-General of Customs paid a memorable visit to his alma mater, Modakeke High School, on Friday, 12 December, in an emotional and inspiring homecoming. The visit drew a warm reception from the school’s management, staff, students, members of the Old Students Association, and community leaders, who gathered to celebrate one of the school’s most distinguished alumni.

Addressing the students, the Comptroller-General delivered a motivating pep talk, saying, “I urge you all to remain focused on your education and to see learning as a critical pathway to personal success and national development.” He also cautioned the students against engaging in social vices, emphasising the importance of discipline, integrity, and hard work in achieving their dreams.

Using his own life journey as an example, he encouraged the students to believe in themselves and remain resilient in the face of challenges. As part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s Customs Cares initiative, the Comptroller-General donated a large batch of learning materials to support teaching and learning in the school.

The gesture was warmly received by the school authorities and students, who expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and the continued interest shown in the institution’s welfare. In addition, the Comptroller-General pledged to collaborate with the Modakeke High School Old Students Association to provide further support for the school, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

He noted that giving back to one’s roots was both a responsibility and a privilege. He reaffirmed his commitment to making meaningful contributions to the growth and development of his former school.
