The Nigeria Customs Service Medical Team, led by Comptroller Lafiya Baba, has intensified efforts to strengthen emergency readiness through a comprehensive first aid training for officers and men of the Oyo/Osun Area Command.

According to a press release issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Abdulmalik Akintola, on Thursday, 20 November 2025, the exercise, held at the Command’s Operational Headquarters in Ibadan, forms part of the Service’s broader initiative to improve personnel welfare, health consciousness and operational efficiency.

The team was warmly received by Deputy Comptroller of Customs Kayode Elijah, who represented the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu. He commended the initiative of the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the Management team for prioritising the health and safety of personnel.

According to him, the Command would ensure that the knowledge gained is effectively applied. He urged participants to remain vigilant, prioritise safety and confidently deploy first aid techniques whenever necessary.

In her remarks, Comptroller Baba expressed appreciation for the Command’s cooperation and active participation.

She highlighted the importance of continuous learning, noting that officers must remain familiar with critical emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other first aid interventions.

She also stressed that such initiatives are crucial in ensuring personnel are adequately prepared to stabilise emergency situations before professional medical help becomes available.
