Comptroller Adebola Salawu has officially assumed leadership of the Lagos Industrial Area Command, succeeding Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who retired recently.
This was contained in a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Juliana Tomo, on Monday, 8 September 2025.
According to the statement, the handover ceremony, held at the Command’s headquarters in Festac Town, marked the retirement of Comptroller Wadinda, who bowed out after a distinguished career that included notable corporate social responsibility (CSR) interventions.
Tomo noted that, before her exit, Wadinda spearheaded the Customs Cares initiative at Festac Senior Grammar School, where she provided a water treatment plant, established an e-library, donated a photocopier, and refurbished facilities, including the school’s toilets. She credited the project’s success to stakeholders’ support and collaboration.
The outgoing Comptroller thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for entrusting her with the Command’s leadership.
She further urged all officers to cooperate fully with her successor to ensure continued trade facilitation and enhanced revenue collection.
In her remarks, Comptroller Salawu praised her predecessor’s efforts and assured officers and stakeholders of her commitment to improving excise operations.
She also called on officers to extend their cooperation during her tenure and to take advantage of the newly launched Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu), with particular emphasis on in-house training for officers and stakeholder engagement, to boost excise performance and contribute to national economic growth.
