The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the cancellation of all import declarations made while implementing the now-suspended 4% Free-on-Board (FOB) charge on imports.
According to a press release issued on Monday, 24 February 2025, by the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, the decision to cancel previous declarations and give room for recapturing is part of the service’s broader effort to be a public-centric organisation that ensures efficient service delivery.
The NCS directed all affected importers, customs agents, and stakeholders to recapture their entries to facilitate the clearance of their goods while also assuring stakeholders that measures have been put in place to make the process seamless.
“All stakeholders affected are urged to promptly recapture their entries through the designated customs processing platforms. Customs Commands nationwide have been directed to provide the necessary assistance and clarifications to importers and agents requiring support during this period”, AC Maiwada stated.
The Service reiterated its commitment to implementing government fiscal policies in alignment with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 through robust consultation and dialogue with all stakeholders.
The NCS also reaffirmed its dedication to openness and transparency in its engagements with stakeholders and encouraged traders to take advantage of the opportunity to avoid any further delays in their consignments.
