Healthcare: Kuje Barracks Hosts Health Talk, Medical Checks for Customs Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kuje Customs Barrack on Saturday, 7 December, 2024 in Kuje Federal Capital Territory (FCT) organised a comprehensive health initiative aimed at promoting proactive healthcare practices among its personnel and residents.

The event, which began at 8:00 am, featured medical screenings and a health talk led by a Deputy Comptroller of Customs (Medical) Dr. Kabiru Damisa Speaking under the theme, “Eat Your Medicine So That You Won’t Have to Take Your Medicine,” Dr Damisa emphasised the significance of healthy living through proper nutrition and regular physical activity.

“Adopting a balanced diet and consistent exercise routine can prevent chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, and other health complications,” Dr Damisa stated.

Participants received various medical screenings during the event, focusing on early detection and prevention of potential health issues.

Plans to establish a clinic within the barracks to provide accessible healthcare services to officers and the community were part of the discussion during the event.

Attendees expressed renewed commitment to healthier lifestyles and support for improved healthcare facilities at the barracks.
