The Nigeria Customs Service, Ondo/Ekiti Area Command on Thursday 26 September 2024 received the Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Saidu Yusuf, who has been on a working visit to various commands in the Zone.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Herbert Dzungwenen on 2 October 2024, stated that the Zonal Coordinator was received by the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Morenikeji Bewaji alongside heads of security and sister agencies in the state.
While addressing Officers and Men of the command, ACG Yusuf emphasised the importance of mentorship for young officers, advising them to prioritise studying and adding value to maintain relevance.
To auto dealers, the Zonal Coordinator warned that smuggling will not be tolerated anywhere in the country.
In her speech, the CAC stated that the Command recorded remarkable success in revenue collection, surpassing last 2023 total collection and this year’s target from January to September.
“From January to present, there has been an accelerated revenue collection of N263,131,207.90. This is more than the N37,380,294.35 collected from January to December 2023 and the N108,000,000.00 target for 2024.”
Comptroller Bewaji attributed this success to implementing the Comptroller-General’s policy thrust, bridging gaps with stakeholders and communities, and fostering improved relationships with federal and state agencies.
She noted that the command also seized 13 vehicles with forged customs declarations, demonstrating its commitment to anti-smuggling efforts.
