PTML Customs Rewards Excellence, Strengthens Leadership Capacity

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port & Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command, has rewarded outstanding officers and strengthened the leadership capacity of its senior personnel through a leadership seminar organised to promote professionalism, teamwork and improved service delivery.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Abdullahi Abubakar, the seminar was held on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at the PTML Command Conference Hall, in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.
Declaring the seminar open, the Acting Customs Area Controller (Ag. CAC), DC Nura Miko, said effective leadership is critical to the successful implementation of the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling. He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to initiatives that promote the welfare, health and productivity of officers, including the recently commenced Work-Life Balance Initiative.
Participants were drawn from the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, and were taken through sessions on strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct. The Acting Area Controller, delivered the first session, titled, “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence.”
DC Miko commended participants for their active engagement and charged them to translate the knowledge gained from the seminar into improved service delivery. He also reassured stakeholders and members of the trading community of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to Officer-in-Charge, Mile 2 Gate, Assistant Comptroller Josephine Ezekuse, and Officer-in-Charge, Legal Unit, Chief Superintendent of Customs Christian Ibrahim, in recognition of their diligence, selflessness and outstanding contributions to the Command.
The Ag. CAC urged all officers to continue giving their best in service to the nation, noting that, “the Command has mechanisms to identify and reward diligence, selflessness and efficient service delivery.”
