The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) commemorated the 2026 International Women’s Day with a vibrant and impactful celebration centred on the theme “Give to Gain.” The event took place on 7 March 2026 at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall in Gwagwalada, Abuja, bringing together members of the association for a day of reflection, empowerment, and community bonding.

In her welcome address, the COWA National President, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, encouraged women to embrace the spirit of generosity and community building. She emphasised that giving goes beyond material support and includes offering one’s time, compassion, and presence to others.
“Giving is not only about what we have in our hands, but also about the time, kindness, and support we extend to one another. When we give sincerely, we build stronger communities, and in return, we gain in ways that cannot always be measured,” she said.
A key highlight of the celebration was an engaging interactive session focused on emotional intelligence. During the session, participants openly shared personal experiences, confided in one another, and discussed the importance of speaking up and supporting fellow women. The atmosphere of openness fostered reflection and healing, with many participants describing the conversation as both insightful and empowering.

In line with the theme “Give to Gain,” attendees also brought gifts, which were distributed to random individuals as acts of kindness, reinforcing the message of generosity and compassion within and beyond the association.
The event also featured the inauguration of COWA’s newly appointed national executives. While congratulating the new leaders, the National President urged them to approach their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
“Leadership is a privilege and a responsibility. I encourage each of you to use this opportunity to serve selflessly, uplift others, and strengthen the values that COWA stands for,” she said.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note, with an atmosphere of gratitude as members reflected on the day’s significance and the power of giving.
