The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Lilypond Export Command, has recorded a 9.56% growth in export trade, reaching a total value of approximately $858.11 million in the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Samuel Ariyibi, during his maiden press briefing in Lagos on Thursday, 26 February 2026, agricultural produce remained the dominant export category, accounting for $568.27 million in exports.
He attributed the growth to strategic engagement with critical stakeholders, focusing on both value and volume.
“Upon assumption of duty, I initiated strategic engagements with critical stakeholders in line with the policy thrust and reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, with emphasis on value, volume and seamless processes,” he stated.
“The Command has consolidated existing achievements while strengthening measures to enhance legitimate export trade within our area of responsibility,” he added.

The CAC also disclosed that export surcharge collections rose to ₦208.54 million, a significant increase from ₦91.95 million recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2024.
Comptroller Ariyibi called on exporters to maintain the integrity of the trade chain, “I urge all exporters operating within this Command to remain compliant, adhere strictly to export guidelines, and refrain from all forms of trade infractions”.
He reassured stakeholders of the Command’s ongoing support, capacity-building programmes, and commitment to facilitating legitimate exports in line with national economic objectives.
