The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ports & Terminal MultiServices Limited (PTML) Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability with the launch of a reputation management workshop for senior officers.

Declaring the workshop open on Thursday, 22 January 2026, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joe Anani, said the initiative was part of a Service-wide campaign, introduced by the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters and cascaded across all Area Commands.
According to him, the workshop is aimed at strengthening officers’ sense of responsibility, improving ethical conduct and enhancing public and stakeholder confidence in the Service.
“Reputation remains the cornerstone of survival, influence and power for every organisation”, Comptroller Anani said. “As officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, we must always be mindful that our actions can either build or break trust reposed in us by stakeholders and the public.”

He explained that the reputation management drive would also promote proactive communication and constructive engagement with stakeholders, noting that effective communication plays a critical role in achieving institutional goals and operational efficiency.
Comptroller Anani further urged officers to see themselves as ambassadors of the Service, stressing that professionalism and integrity must guide their daily interactions.
“Transparency, accountability, delivering results, communicating proactively, addressing concerns promptly, and leading by example are key to effective reputation management, thereby boosting stakeholders’ trust and confidence in the Service”, he added.
The workshop featured presentations by facilitators, who underscored the Service’s commitment to upholding public trust, promoting accountability among officers and reinforcing ethical standards in line with the Nigeria Customs Service’s reform agenda.
