The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has restated its commitment to improving national security and strengthening institutional leadership following its participation in the 2025 Executive Leadership Retreat held at Ikeja, Lagos from Sunday, 30 November to Thursday, 4 December 2025.

The retreat, organised by the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), brought together senior officials from government agencies, security institutions, academia, development partners, and the private sector to review Nigeria’s governance and security challenges.
The NCS delegation, led by ACG Nsikan Umoh, Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, and ACG Chika Dim, in charge of Doctrine Development and Administration, joined other participants and experts such as Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Mohammed Babandede, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, Prof. Anthony Kila, Leke Alder, and Dr. Ayodele Aderinwale.
During the five-day programme, participants discussed key national issues, including international relations, investment and trade negotiations, leadership in security environments, as well as national identity and federalism.
According to Superintendent Dikko Magaji, Zonal Public Relations Officer for Zone ‘B’, the retreat offered an important opportunity for reflection and strategy development. He noted that for the NCS, the programme reinforced the need for operational efficiency, discipline, innovation, and stronger inter-agency collaboration.
The delegates also appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his continuous support and commitment to capacity building, which they said is helping to strengthen professionalism and national security across the Service.
