Ibeto Group Chairman Visits Ibeto Seaport Command, Reaffirms Support for Customs Operations

The Chairman of Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto, on Tuesday, 21 October, 2025 paid a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller of Ibeto Seaport and Terminals Area 5 Command, Port Harcourt, Comptroller Usman Yahaya, in demonstration of his continued partnership and commitment to the growth of the Command.

According to a press release signed by Chief Superintendent Customs Emanuel Tangwa on 24 October, 2025, Comptroller Yahaya expressed delight at hosting a man whose name, he said, “is a household name in Nigeria’s economic landscape.” He commended Chief Ibeto for his far-reaching contributions to national development and the vital role he continues to play in making the Ibeto Seaport and Terminals a hub of legitimate trade and investment.
In his remarks, Chief Ibeto congratulated Comptroller Yahaya on his posting as the second Customs Area Controller of the Command and assured him of his full cooperation. He pledged to mobilize credible business stakeholders and traders to make the Command one of the most viable in terms of revenue generation and trade facilitation.

Chief Ibeto further promised to support the Command with improved logistics, strengthened security, and the installation of adequate lighting across the port facility to ensure effective supervision and safer operations. He encouraged the Area Controller to share information and developmental needs that could help the Command achieve sustained growth, assuring him of Ibeto Group’s readiness to assist wherever possible.
Responding, Comptroller Usman Yahaya expressed appreciation to the Chairman for his steadfast support and remarkable contributions to the smooth take-off of the Command. He commended Chief Ibeto for prompt support to enhance the functionality of the young Command. He also lauded the construction of a befitting Quarter Guard, describing it as a symbol that has given the Command “a true face and identity befitting of a Customs formation.”
The Customs boss assured the Chairman of his determination to make the Ibeto Seaport and Terminals Command one of the most productive and compliant commands in the Port Harcourt area. He emphasised his commitment to providing a secure environment that safeguards the interests of traders, stakeholders, and investors operating within the facility.
He described the visit as a clear demonstration of mutual trust and partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Ibeto Group. According to him, “Chief Ibeto’s gesture reflects his belief in the Nigeria Customs Service and the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, whose reforms have continued to promote collaboration with the private sector for enhanced revenue generation and trade facilitation.”
The statement added that the visit ended on a warm and positive note, with Chief Ibeto expressing satisfaction with the level of discipline, diligence, and professionalism displayed by officers and men of the Command.
The statement further reaffirmed Ibeto resolve to continue supporting the Nigeria Customs Service in creating an enabling environment that promotes seamless trade, enhances revenue generation, and advances the Federal Government’s economic diversification agenda.
