Compt. Atiku Solicits Royal Support to Strengthen CGC’s Stakeholder Engagement Drive

In a sustained effort to deepen community engagement and strengthen stakeholder collaboration, the Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Training College, Goron Dutse, Kano, Deputy Comptroller Umar Atiku, has paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Gwale Local Government Area.

The visit, held at the District Head’s Palace on Wednesday, 16 October 2025, formed part of a broader initiative championed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, aimed at strengthening ties with traditional institutions and local communities across the country.

Speaking during the visit, Deputy Comptroller Atiku underscored the importance of community partnership in executing the Customs mandate.

He stated, “In modern border management and the integrated training of Customs personnel, the role of local stakeholders cannot be overstated. Engaging with the community is key to our success.

“Our operations take place within their environment, and we must honour the traditional institutions that foster peace and order.”

He further explained that the engagement is one of several initiatives being undertaken nationwide as part of CGC Adeniyi’s policy direction, which places strong emphasis on inclusive governance, institutional integrity, and stakeholder-driven service delivery.

According to him, “This visit is part of the ongoing efforts across the country to support CGC Adeniyi’s vision, which focuses on teamwork, transparency, and better service to all stakeholders.”

Atiku also commended the District Head of Gwale as a respected leader whose influence has consistently promoted cooperation between government agencies and the community.

In his remarks, the District Head of Gwale, Abubakar Mojo, commended the Commandant and his team for their professionalism and unwavering dedication to duty.

“Do your job diligently. By virtue of your position, many will come to you, but remain steadfast, do not compromise, and be upright in all your dealings,” the monarch advised.

He pledged the full support of the traditional institution to the Nigeria Customs Service and assured continued collaboration to sustain peace, understanding, and smooth operations in the area.
