The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, has continued his familiarisation visits to traditional rulers, engaging the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, and the Oniragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi, Odundun IV, to strengthen ties and promote community collaboration.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) Abdulmalik Akintola, the visit, held on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, aimed to foster peace, transparency, and public trust in Customs operations.

During the visit, Comptroller Gambo expressed appreciation to the royal fathers for their hospitality and their efforts in maintaining peace and stability within their domains. He further acknowledged their vital roles as custodians of cultural heritage and tradition.

He reiterated that the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service remain central to national economic growth and security.

The Comptroller also sought the continued support and cooperation of the royal fathers in enlightening their subjects on the dangers and implications of smuggling and other illicit trade activities, stating that “such acts are detrimental to the safety, security, and economic well-being of the nation.”

In their responses, the monarchs expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the Area Controller of their continued support in the fight against smuggling and the promotion of lawful trade.
