The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, has concluded a comprehensive retraining programme for its officers and men, aimed at strengthening capacity, promoting professionalism, and deepening public trust in its operations.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs, Herbert Dzungwenen, the exercise, which held between 2-7 October 2025, aligns with the strategic vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to foster a culture of excellence, efficiency and integrity across all formations of the service.

The training covered key modules including Reputation Management; Intelligence Gathering and Risk Management; Stakeholder Relations; Enforcement Procedures; Operational Engagement; and a review of the Public Service Rules.
Speaking during the opening session, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Queen Obazee, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and ethical service delivery in achieving the Service’s mission.
“This retraining is not just a refresher course; it is a call to renew diligence, integrity, and public service. Our goal is to deliver a Customs Service that earns the confidence of the public and serves as a pillar of national economic growth and security”, she stated.
Comptroller Obazee noted that Customs operations continue to evolve in response to global trade dynamics, hence the need for officers to adapt through regular capacity-building and value-driven engagements.
The impact of the retraining, she added, would be evident in improved stakeholder coordination, enhanced risk assessment and enforcement efficiency, and a more transparent interface with the public.

The Command also appealed to stakeholders, particularly traders, freight forwarders, and community members within the Southwest corridor to cooperate by complying with Customs regulations, reporting unethical practices, and supporting legitimate trade activities.
