The Customs Area Controller, in charge of Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, has continued his drive to strengthen inter-agency synergy, paying courtesy visits to three sister agencies, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, Abdulmalik Akintola, the visits, which took place on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, are part of Comptroller Aliyu’s broader agenda to reinforce collaboration in securing Nigeria’s borders, tackling trans-border crimes, and protecting national assets.

At the Nigeria Correctional Service, Comptroller Aliyu described the agency as “a strategic partner in Nigeria’s security architecture, saddled with the critical mandate of reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating offenders into society.”

He noted that the NCoS has made invaluable contributions to peace, stability, and socio-economic growth in the country.

Similarly, at the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Area Controller lauded the agency’s role as a frontline institution in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.

“Your unwavering professionalism and dedication in regulating migration remain essential to national security, migration management, and socio-economic stability. The NIS is a vital partner in curbing trans-border crimes and protecting the nation against illegal activities inimical to growth and development,” he said.

While addressing senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comptroller Aliyu acknowledged the agency as “a reliable partner in safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and maintaining internal security.” He praised the NSCDC for its contributions in combating smuggling and vandalism, stressing that its work consistently complements the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.

He explained that the series of visits was aimed at deepening existing synergy among security institutions. He emphasised that stronger partnerships remain a vital step toward tackling common challenges and safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Comptroller Aliyu reaffirmed that the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, is fully committed to working hand in hand with sister agencies to enhance national security, promote socio-economic development, and protect the nation’s territorial integrity.

The visits follow the Area Controller’s recent engagements with the Department of State Services and the Federal Road Safety Corps in Oyo State, underscoring his ongoing commitment to inter-agency collaboration as a cornerstone of effective border management.
