The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, on Thursday, 17 July 2025, paid an unscheduled visit to the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, where he addressed stakeholders’ concerns regarding the newly introduced B’Odogwu platform.

The visit, which followed a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in the Ajegunle community, underscored the CGC’s commitment to strengthening Customs’ relationship with its host communities and trade partners.

He revealed that since arriving in Lagos, he had been briefed on several issues related to the functionality of the B’Odogwu platform.

“About this time last week, I was here for a meeting with authorised dealer banks. They raised about 23 or 24 issues. We went through each of them, one by one. The most fundamental of these were back-end issues on the part of Customs. I gave my word that we would address them,” he recalled.

The CGC assured stakeholders that efforts were already underway, with a clear timeline in place. “We gave ourselves one week to resolve those issues. What we want to do now is listen to you and structure our engagement across various levels of clearance and trade.

“The issues we can resolve immediately, we will. For those that require further action, we’ll provide clear commitments—and I want you to hold me to them,” he declared.

Welcoming the CGC to the command, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Joy Edeldouk, expressed appreciation for his visit and lauded his emphasis on stakeholder engagement.

“I’m truly honoured to have you here, Sir. One key lesson we’ve learnt from your leadership is the importance of collaboration, dialogue, and regular interaction with our stakeholders. That approach has helped ensure we remain aligned,” she said.

She also noted that stakeholders at the command have been cooperative and eager to improve their understanding of Customs procedures.
