Oyo/Osun customs Hand Over Cannabis, Fake Drugs to Sister agencies

In a demonstration of inter-agency collaboration, the Nigeria Customs Service Oyo/Osun Area Command handed over seized cannabis sativa and fake pharmaceutical products to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Thursday, 3 July, 2025.

During the hand over ceremony Comptroller Joseph Adelaja the Customs Area Controller stated that the command is committed to upholding national security and public health through robust enforcement and inter-agency cooperation

He said “we are dedicated to keeping Nigeria safe and healthy by strongly enforcing laws and working closely with sister agencies to curb these incessant crimes”.

According to him, it is in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. which emphasizes synergy and effective collaboration with other agencies in the fight against smuggling and all forms of trans national crime.

Furthermore he said, the items totaling a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦35,488,500 were intercepted by the command’s operatives and subsequently handed over to the appropriate agencies for further investigation and necessary action.
