Nigeria Customs Service, Stanbic IBTC Bank Partner to Enhance Seamless Trade Facilitation

The Nigeria Customs Service and Stanbic IBTC Bank have collaborated to hold a stakeholders’ engagement aimed at enhancing trade efficiency and addressing operational bottlenecks.
The event, which held on Friday, 2 May 2025, brought together importers, customs trade facilitators, and banking officials, to foster open dialogue and promote efficient clearance systems.
Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of Port & Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Area Command, Comptroller Tenny Daniyan, represented by Team Lead of the B’Odogwu Unit, Assistant Comptroller Abass Oladepo, described the collaboration as a forward thinking initiative driven by the host bank.
“We believe it is a win-win for both parties since we are simply here to share our ideas. With today’s event, we expect more turnout on B’Odogwu as our partner, Stanbic IBTC who is at the front have so far being reliable”, he stated.

On his part, Head of Trade Transaction Banking at Stanbic IBTC Bank, Seun Ogundolapo, emphasised the importance of collaboration. “The NCS have B’Odogwu as a set-go for them to achieve seamless trade facilitation. All we did was bring everyone together to achieve a shared objective.”
“We understand Customs’ targets and we’re committed to supporting them. Although, there might be temporary hurdles but the positive orientation they bring is what drives us with our clients to achieve our set target” he said.
Participants at the session commended the initiative, describing it as a practical step towards resolving ongoing concerns.
Obehi Ogbebor, Senior Procurement Specialist at Starsight Energy shared her experience stating, “Most of our concerns have been addressed here and for those remaining, they agreed to setup subsequent meetings. This is simply because of a partnership that works”, she concluded.
