Katsina Customs Reinvigorates Community Relations, Urges Officers to Uphold Professionalism

In an effort to strengthen public trust and enhance operational efficiency, the Customs Area Controller of the Katsina Command, Comptroller Abba-Aji Idriss, launched a week sensitisation campaign to all Border stations of the Command so as to improve the existing relationships between the Nigeria Customs Service, Sister Agencies and border communities.

A press statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Bello Isah, on Friday, 2 May 2025, said the campaign, which started from 23 to 30 April 2025, was the key component of a broader strategy aimed at fostering synergy between the service and the communities it serves.
During the engagement, Comptroller Abba-Aji stressed on the critical role of professionalism, integrity, and diligence in delivering effective service. He called on officers to adhere to the highest standards in their conduct and to remain committed to their duties with discipline and accountability.
The comptroller said, “Our relationship with the communities we serve is a vital component of national security and economic stability. We must be professional, approachable, and dedicated to upholding the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
The Comptroller also interacted with community leaders and local stakeholders, where he reaffirmed the service’s commitment to transparency, cooperation, and mutual respect. He emphasised that collaborative efforts between customs personnel and host communities are essential in curbing smuggling activities and improving border security.
