The Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of the Tincan Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has reiterated the need for strong and unified security collaboration among government agencies to enhance national security and economic stability.

According to a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Oscar Ivara, on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, the CAC made this call while receiving the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Badagry, Captain Omotayo Oyeleye, in his office.

Comptroller Onyeka noted that beyond its core functions of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling activities, Tincan Island Port Command also aims to build a strong and formidable synergy with all security agencies to deter criminal elements from perpetrating their nefarious activities through the seaport.

The CAC commended the Nigerian Navy’s role in maritime security and acknowledged its dedication to curbing sea robberies and other illegal activities.

In response, Captain Oyeleye praised the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for consistently rising to the occasion during joint patrols, stating that its contributions have always been pivotal to the success of joint operations.

In a related development, Comptroller Onyeka paid a familiarisation visit to the Controllers of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) at PTML and Tincan Island Commands. During the visit to the Quarantine office in Tincan, he reassured the agency of continued collaboration. He expressed his commitment to integrating the Quarantine Service into the Command’s activities to enhance synergy.
