Funtua Inland Dry Port to Boost Job Creation, Economic Prosperity – Abba-Aji

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) Katsina Area Command, Comptroller Abba-Aji Idris, stated on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, that the Funtua Inland Dry Port will drive economic growth in Katsina State by creating jobs and empowering small-scale businesses.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony, Comptroller Idriss highlighted the port’s potential to generate employment, engage youth, and foster regional economic stability.

He urged the local community to fully capitalise on the facility, stating, “I encourage you to seize this opportunity for the benefit of your society and Nigeria as a whole.”

The port, set to become a key trade hub, will streamline import and export activities, reducing logistics costs for businesses in northern Nigeria.

Commending the initiative, the Director of the Northwest Zone, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Hajiya Karimatu Usman, praised the management for providing a conducive working environment and urged relevant agencies to maintain the facilities properly.

The Chairman of the Funtua Inland Dry Port expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for making the project a reality, stating, “I will do whatever it takes to develop this port.”

Dignitaries present at the event included Sarkin Maska, Alhaji Idris Sambo, the District Head of Funtua Local Government, as well as representatives from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Police, and other key stakeholders.
