Customs Zone D, Bauchi Decorates Newly Promoted Customs Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone D, Bauchi, held a ceremony on 23 January 2025 to celebrate the decoration of newly promoted officers. The event, attended by family members, friends, and officers’ colleagues, marked a significant milestone in the Service’s history.

Speaking at the event, the Zonal Coordinator for Zone D, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG), Abdulrazaq Abdulazeez, represented by the Comptroller in charge of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone D, Comptroller Aliyu Abubakar, congratulated the officers on their promotions. He commended their dedication and emphasised the additional responsibilities that accompany their new ranks.

ACG Abdulrazaq thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Customs Board for approving what he described as a “landmark promotion exercise.” He noted that “this is the first time in the history of the NCS that such a significant number of officers had been promoted”.

The ACG advised the newly promoted officers to carry out their duties impartially and remain focused on the Service’s core objectives of revenue generation, anti-smuggling efforts, and trade facilitation. He also encouraged officers who were not promoted to remain steadfast in their duties, highlighting that the promotion process is strictly merit-based.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Comptroller Sunday Ido expressed gratitude to the NCS Board and the leadership of the NCS management team led by CGC Adewale Adeniyi for recognising their efforts. He reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the values of the Service and contributing meaningfully to its core mandates.

During the ceremony, a total of 37 officers were decorated with their new ranks. These included 3 Customs Comptrollers, 1 Deputy Comptroller, 10 Assistant Comptrollers, 2 Chief Superintendents of Customs, 8 Superintendents of Customs, 6 Deputy Superintendents of Customs, 6 Assistant Superintendents of Customs I, and 1 Assistant Superintendent of Customs II.

The event underscored the importance of hard work, dedication, and excellence within the Nigeria Customs Service, inspiring all officers to continue striving for professionalism and service excellence.
