The Zonal Coordinator of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Charles Orbih, has urged Customs officers to uphold the objectives of the 2025 World Customs Organisation (WCO) theme for International Customs Day (ICD), “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity.”

Speaking at a ceremony held at the Tincan Island Port (TCIP) Command on Monday, 27 January 2025, ACG Orbih emphasised that the WCO theme aligns with the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi’s policy focus on Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation.

He encouraged officers to exhibit professionalism and innovation throughout the year, stressing that their collective actions would shape Nigeria’s global economic competitiveness and national security. “Let us promote this theme in all our interactions, processes, and decisions,” Orbih stated.

In his address, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of TCIP, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, outlined the Command’s action plan built on three pillars: Capacity Building, Enhanced Collaboration, and Accountability & Integrity. Onyeka revealed ongoing investments in training officers to align with 21st-century Customs operations and foster stronger partnerships with the private sector, government agencies, and international organisations.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to transparency and accountability, emphasising that integrity is fundamental to maintaining public trust.

The event, held to commemorate the 2025 World Customs Day, was attended by senior Customs officers, stakeholders, and representatives from other security agencies.
