Deputy Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu has officially taken over as the Acting Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, vowing to enhance border security and boost revenue generation.
This transition follows the statutory retirement of Comptroller James Ojo, who served as the previous Customs Area Controller.
In a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Hammed Oloyede, DC Shuaibu, during his inaugural address, reaffirmed his commitment to the Command’s core mandates: revenue generation, border security, and trade facilitation.
“It is an honour to lead this strategic Command, which plays a vital role in safeguarding our nation’s economy and security. I pledge to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and dedication in fulfilling our responsibilities,” Shuaibu stated.
The new Acting Area Controller commended his predecessor, Comptroller Ojo, for his significant contributions to the Command. He assured stakeholders of his determination to build on the outgoing Area Controller’s achievements, particularly in combating smuggling and improving revenue collection.
Shuaibu also called for continued collaboration with sister security agencies and the local community, emphasising that such partnerships are essential for the Command’s success.
In his farewell address, Comptroller Ojo expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the Ogun I Command for their support and professionalism during his tenure. He urged them to extend the same level of cooperation to DC Shuaibu, stressing that unity and discipline are crucial for sustained success.
