COWA Commences Maiden Trade Fair in Abuja with Over 200 Business Owners

The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) inaugurated its first-ever trade fair on Friday, 18 October 2024, at the Riverplate Garden, Central Business District, Abuja, as part of its efforts to promote local trade and empower women.
In her opening address, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Tariff and Trade, DCG Caroline Niagwan, representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, commended COWA for spearheading this initiative aimed at promoting local trade and empowering women.
She reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s continued commitment to supporting COWA’s empowerment programmes, expressing appreciation for the association’s consistent efforts to advance the welfare of women.
The National President of COWA, Mrs. Kikelomo Adewale Adeniyi, described the trade fair as a platform for empowering women and contributing to family well-being.
She emphasised that the event transcends a mere exhibition, serving as a crucial avenue for strengthening the national economy by promoting locally made products.
Mrs Adeniyi encouraged participants to support and patronise local businesses, highlighting the importance of seamless engagement with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
She further praised the SMEs in attendance, noting their preparedness and enthusiasm in showcasing their products.
The 2024 COWA Trade Fair attracted over 250 vendors, including members of the association and business owners from various parts of the country.
