Ratels FC Boss partners SWAN FCT, roles out 3-year lifeline package for members

One of Nigeria’s football moguls and founder of Ratels Sports Development Foundation, Barrister Paul Edeh, has announced a three-year lifeline for Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter.

Barr. Edeh, sole financier of two rising Nigeria’s female clubs – Ratels FC and Honey Badgers announced this when he hosted executive members of SWAN FCT led by Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka in Abuja.

While congratulating the association over a successful election that ushered in a new leadership, the Benue-born club owner assured of his readiness to continuously partner SWAN.

The Lawyer turned football administrator commended SWAN members for the orderly manner at which their election was conducted last Friday.

He said, “Our partnership with SWAN FCT was due to the diligence and sincerity of the Chairman Ndubueze Chidoka.

“The documents available to me show that the election that produced the new leadership is evident that the Sports Writers in FCT are behind you. The congratulation letter from the National body is a further affirmation.

“My advice to all Nigerians and indeed sports writers is to always find factors that unite us more than any other thing. There must be a meeting ground. My foyer into sports was to seek a platform that will best unite us as a people. I established Ratels sports development foundation to further actualise this purpose.

“I will want to host the entire SWAN membership in the nearest future when any outstanding issue would have been resolved. I will dedicate myself to giving SWAN FCT a lifeline in the next three years in the form of a cash donation which will start this year.”

Nigeria’s D’tigress Lose 81-72 to US Women Basketball National Team

Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, on Tuesday lost 81-72 to the United States in the basketball event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Saitama.

It was a brave performance from the African champions who were recently beaten by the same Americans 93-62 in an exhibition game in Las Vegas.

Before Tuesday’s game against Nigeria, the Americans have taken to the court at the Olympic Games 49 times while emerging victorious as many times. That impressive record is now 50 wins in a row.

D’Tigress made an impressive 8-1 start, forcing the US to turn the ball over several times, but the defending champions soon found a way around Nigeria’s full-court press and eventually went into a 9-8 lead with just under five minutes left in the opening quarter.
